John,
Just
received your fax. I have no public reprimands, but am facing a possible
PR for a frivolous complaint.
What I'm
noticing from my grievance attorney, a former state bar prosecutor, is the
prosecution mentality, and would add to your list of overreaching by the state
bar in these matters is their failure to adhere to two legal doctrines, tried
and true: 1) a showing of some sort of harm occasioned by attorney
conduct, and 2) standing, where the person who claims the misconduct must be in
some way, shape or form, a part of the complaint. Absent a direct
interest, something at stake, people just make things up, and suffer no
consequence as a result.
