Return to John WorldPeace for President of the United
States
COMMENTARY ON THE NEWS by John WorldPeace
Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I have come to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law. Jesus - Matthew 10:34
The truth is often paradoxical. Lao Tzu - Tao te Ching
Going into his meeting with Syrian President Bashar Assad in Damascus, Powell said clearing destructive weapons from the region was a long-standing US goal, but now was not the time to address that matter.
Syria introduced such a resolution in the UN Security Council on Friday. Ambassador Mikhail Wehbe said it could enhance the chances for peace in light of the new US-backed "road map" to peace that is now before Israelis and Palestinians.
Israel is widely believed to have nuclear weapons, but refuses to confirm or deny the claim. It is not party to global treaties aimed at controlling the spread of nuclear, chemical or biological weapons.
Aids-drugs cuts avoid lawsuit
- There is a price to life !
29/04/2003 09:31 - (SA)
Los Angeles - The Aids Healthcare Foundation has dropped a lawsuit against GlaxoSmithKline after the pharmaceuticals giant agreed to slash Aids drugs prices by 47& for the world's poorest countries.
The foundation filed a suit in February in Los Angeles superior court accusing GSK of charging 600% more than its rivals for Aids medicines in Central America, India and Africa.
The British-based company announced on Monday it was reducing the price of its main antiretroviral medication Combivir by 47% to 90 US cents (about R6.60) for non-profit customers in developing nations.
Ged Kenslea, for the foundation, said the lawsuit would be dropped and called its turnabout "pretty groundbreaking".
"We believe GSK can do more, but they are the largest manufacturer of HIV medications, and many of their drugs truly offer the best hope in poor nations," he said.
Still, the foundation has two additional lawsuits pending against the company.
GSK has to report before July to the California Public Employees' Retirement System, which holds $20.2m (about R147.7m) in company shares, on its Aids drugs pricing. - Sapa-AFP
The cost of advocating peace.
Maines did apologize, admitting on March 14 that ''whoever holds that office should be treated with the utmost respect.'' The angry masses were not mollified. Message boards were flooded with cries of ''Natalie Fonda'' and far worse. Sales of their current album, ''Home,'' plummeted from 124,000 the week the story broke to 33,000 a week -- the result, Renshaw says, of the group's near-complete absence from radio. The ongoing campaign against the trio (which also includes Martie's sister, banjo player and new mom Emily Robison, 30) has many Americans vowing that the Chicks should do better than just take a hiatus: They should simply end their careers.
Two months ago, imagining the Chicks playing a game of defense was inconceivable. They were uniters, not dividers, having proved that country music could cross all kinds of boundaries without ever getting watered down as ''crossover.'' Their major-label debut, ''Wide Open Spaces,'' was 11 times platinum; the follow-up, ''Fly,'' platinum 10 times over; despite its current woes, ''Home'' is a certified 6-million-seller after just nine months. On March 1, they set a one-day concert dollars record, selling $49 million in tickets for their upcoming U.S. tour. They are, quite simply, the most important act in the contemporary history of country. ''They singularly revived the music,'' says Brian Philips, general manager of cable channel CMT. ''The thought of country music ever carrying on without them is just unthinkable.''
The pope, calling the Colosseum a "silent witness to power and dominion" as well
as bloody spectacles in the days of the Roman emperors, asked God to "look upon
the blood poured out from so many victims of hate, war and terrorism and kindly
permit that the course of world events play out according to your will in
justice and peace."
Feedback: Dear John,
Wonderful site.
I have published the URL in the Ancient Near East List.
I grasped the opportunity when the media told the world about the looting of
the Bagdad musea.
The history of Sumer, Babylon etc... is stolen.
US goverment was warned and asked to protect these places.
It was not, it was looted.
Sad.
Thank you for your excellent work.

There seems to me to be little difference between the destruction of the artifacts in Iraq, the cradle of western civilization, and the destruction of all the Inca, Aztec and Mayan records when Spain invaded the Americas. The Christians burned the Library of Alexandria, they destroyed all the history of the native peoples of North and South America and now they are apathetic about the history of civilization that we now control in Iraq. It took fifty years for the Dead Sea Scrolls to be published. There is a desire by Christians and Jews to erase all the historical documents which undeniably are the foundation of their sacred and holy scripts. Inside the borders of America, religious prejudice is not tolerated. Outside the borders of America, there is an ongoing war against non-Christian.

Powell deals Syria new warning
Powell says banned weapons will be found. Syria must not become a safe haven to Iraqi officials fleeing Baghdad, US Secretary General Colin Powell has told the BBC. In a fresh warning to Syria, Mr Powell said it should not help Iraqi officials who should be brought to justice in their own country.
Oakland police fired wooden dowels, ``sting balls'' and concussion grenades at anti-war protesters at the Port of Oakland early Monday, apparently the first time such crowd control weapons have been used on demonstrators in the United States since the war with Iraq began last month.
More important than the symbolism, there are pressing practical reasons for the UN's direct involvement. The transition is likely to be a long one. Consider the tasks: policing the inevitable unrest, managing the humanitarian crises that have arisen, rebuilding parts of Baghdad and, most complex of all, agreeing a new democratic settlement for Iraq. A US administration in Baghdad is likely to be viewed with suspicion and wariness at best. Such an administration is also one that is likely to run out of patience quickly. The evidence from Afghanistan, where there is ominous unrest, suggests that the US attention span once a war has been "won" is limited. The policing of Afghanistan, especially outside Kabul, requires much greater resources, but the interests of the US have moved on.
George Bush has established a new American doctrine of pre-emptive action that asserts the United States has the right to attack countries it deems a threat. While George gives lip service to democracy in America he rejects the democracy of the United Nations. He therefore endorses an Imperialist American Doctrine which without a doubt is making many nations (who have valuable assets) very paranoid.
Hi John!!
By chance I found you homepage and I was really surprised to see the first time since weeks an professional man from the USA and especially TEXAS like you are ,who is such a good man in his hard!!! I think you are the good picture I had from americans deep hidden in my mind. Why you're not the president of the USA?? Here in Germany the people felt nearly betrayed by the American government because all the years we had to hear how bad we were (espcialy by Hollywood movies and Stuff like this) and we were pushed to pay money to all the other people in the world because of the things which happen in the 2. WW. They made a soleless community out of former proudly men and woman
Everyone was talking about the Americans, the good one who just want to free Europe and which were only fighting for human rights and freedom.
But the people never talked about the bad treating of my Country during the hard years 1918 until 1933. the unfair treatmnent by the allies after 1918 what made a NAZI regime possible. nobody talked about the flying jews which were torpedoed by british submarines because they didn?t want to led such alot of refugees inside their country before 1939. Nobody is talking about 100.000 of killed innocent victims ( mostly woman and children) in the bombardement of DRESden. Nobody is talking about that only amount 30 of the Germans voted A.Hitler 1933.
And now what happenning? the big powerfull and rich USA, which had never a war on their own territory, which never felt the pain bythemself in their own countryside, towns and villages. They are going away thousand of miles to kill human beeings and bombing other countries again without asking : Do you want to be freed by our troops?
Is all what they made the Germans believe a Lie??
I think your country is loosing right now their hypocritical innocense!!!
I?m really sorry for you living in a country were 75% of the population are for the war!!! America is right now loosing the good image they had many years.
So it?s very good to see that there are other people in the USA which I would describe academic, intelligent, nice and good natured human beeings.
I visited your country 3 times and I never met such nice people in the world! Noone treated me with hatred or prejiudices. People invited me to their home because they showed interests to me and my family and my home country. I made a lot of good friends and had good impressions from your beautifull country. So I hope after this war America will become again such a wunderfull country and not the country I must look at now!!!
Men like you are the hope of this world full of hatred and ingnorance!!!
JOHN FOR PRESIDENT
Glad to see that there 's still someone who 's able to nuance his opinion on the
U.S.'s missions to bring 'peace' to the world. I have two remarks.

By linking to your web site I feel a high degree of vindication
for my own position: you are ******** Dear John: You are one thoroughly confused
person. PEACE be with you, Richard P ******** Once again, you are a disgrace to this country and
the human race, why don't you do us all a favor and go to Iraq to become a
human shield, if you hurry you will get there for the massive onslaught ass
whipping we are going to put on display. No name
Feedback:
1) I talk about the 'US 's false peace missions', not president Bush's. It
would be too easy to
blame the president, or even the oil- and military lobby for unjust wars. It is
the American
people who voted for George W. Bush (and the republican party congress who made
him their candidate) They had an alternative, but 50 % didn't prefer it. I don't
believe' people
are so stupid that they don't know what they are voting for. This sounds very
pessimistical -
I might indeed be a pessimist...
2) It seems a little bit paternalistic to me that America is going around
the world, checking all
the little boys and getting them on the right track for their own good. Is America the ultimate reference? Are American people really known for their
great
tolerance towards other cultures? How long did it take for instance before
slavery was
abolished, isn't there still now discrimination of black people by the police,
the court,... Let 's
not talk about the social security system, the segregating school system. You
have renown
shootings at schools, and teenagers who are boaring themselves to hell; lots of
depressions,
burnouts (people who are mentally too tired to function well), divorces, people
who have
great pains at finding a direction in their life, obesitas and anorexia,
computer game addicts. It wouldn't be fair to say that all these are just a couple of singled out
individuals whose
lives turned bad by incident. There ?re some problems for people to give
genuine meaning
to their lives, and conduct their lives. I 'm not intending to say that Europe
(where I live) is
free from all these problems mentioned above. In Belgium, there is a rising
racism, lots of
people have become empty minds who only cover their emptyness with a thin layer
of
(false) meaning, and so on.
What I do intend to say is that the West has its own crises to solve (I think
they are meanly
crises of meaning-giving) and that we should in a way learn to be
self-sufficient, so that we
don't need to go hang around in the world to bring 'peace' and 'wealth' (both in
reality
often ironical terms) to other people around the world, to make ourselves feel
'the good
guys'.
I am aware that my words might seem to be an attack to you, and your family, who
are all in
some way linked to the U.S. military, as I understood from the pictures. Perhaps
I too should
now nuance my opinion. I don't really know if a country can go on a mission
abroad to bring
its version of 'good life' to other countries. I guess this might be
justifiable, as long as the
country is aware that what is good might differ for different people, and that
it doesn't act
alone in its war. But in each case, I keep stating peace should primarily be
worked on at home. Otherwise, the US would be hypocrit.
Keep bringing out the peace message, at home and abroad!
Courage,

The warheads in Washington seem to be talking more and
more about the bloody fighting that is coming when the Americans try to take
Baghdad. George and his warring cabinet were wrong. The Iraqis
prefer Saddam to George. In fact, Iraqis are coming home to fight the
Americans and Muslim "freedom fighters" are streaming into Iraq from
Syria and Iran. In time, if Saddam can survive, there may be a flood of
Muslims into Iraq. There is nothing that the Arabs would like more than to
beat the Americans. The only question is how many dead American soldiers
will it take before George has to leave Iraq? If we take Baghdad without
too many dead soldiers, then it sets a precedent for future acts of
aggression. If we find that a modern city cannot be taken by force without
killing tens of thousands of civilians, then maybe the folly of war will be
exposed and WorldPeace will be given a chance. WorldPeace.

Yeranian Beirut - The militant Palestinian group Islamic Jihad said a group of its suicide
bombers has arrived in Iraq to help fight U.S. and British forces. The United
States has said the group is a terrorist organization. Islamic Jihad made the claim in a statement faxed to news agencies. The
group's leader, Ramadan Abdallah Challah, told al-Jazeera television that
Islamic Jihad would help Iraq defeat the United States and Britain. He said it
is one conflict from Baghdad to the West Bank. On Saturday, an Iraqi suicide bomber killed four U.S. soldiers in central
Iraq. The Iraqi government praised the attack, and threatened more. The senior coalition military commander called the attack 'terrorism' and
said the Iraqi government's praise for the attack was 'remarkable.' He said
coalition troops will be more careful when dealing with Iraqi civilians.
The bottom line is that Iraq is the desert version of
Vietnam, the terrorist have established a wedge of distrust between the
Americans and the Iraqi civilians.
Feedback: Dear John,
I just visited your Web site and I feel it my duty to write to
you to say
thank you. Thank you for speaking out loudly and clearly
against the injustice and
horror of this war and the arrogance and cynicism
of the current US
government. Thank you for your courage and integrity in
facing allegations
of unpatriotism from some of your fellow countrymen, while
showing what real
patriotism is all about. Thank you because, like may other
Americans today,
you are making it possible for me to still believe the US

Thank you.

"The Importance of WorldPeace"
The question to be
asked is "How can we manifest peace on earth if we do not include everyone (all
nations, all religions, all races, both women and men) in our vision of
peace?"
A Christian peace cannot bring WorldPeace because it does not
include Buddhist, Hindus, Muslims or Jews.
A White peace cannot bring
WorldPeace because it does not include people who are Black, Brown and
Yellow.
A? male peace cannot bring WorldPeace because it does not include
females.
And an American peace cannot bring WorldPeace because it is not
tolerant and respectful of the other nations of the world.
A United
Nations peace is the only hope for WorldPeace.
And lastly, WorldPeace is
one word.? Until WorldPeace is written as one word, it will remain two
things.
(And if you have time left, "Treat others the way you want to be
treated".)

Instead of voicing his disapproval of the US invasion of Iraq,
Kofi Annan should tender his resignation as secretary-general of the UN.
In so doing, he will set a precedent for future secretaries-general in the event
that the UN charter is violated by any permanent member of the Security Council.
If he remains in power, he will not be able to look anybody in the eye.
Monson Marukatat
... And whole UN needs overhaul...
The problem with the UN is not that the Security Council failed to reach a
consensus on the lines advocated by the Potomac Hegemon. Rather, it is that the
secretary-general of the United Nations did not, immediately upon the
American-led aggression starting in Iraq, use his power under article 99 of the
UN charter to draw the attention of the Security Council to that assault against
international peace and security.
Above all, it is that, as of this writing, the UN General Assembly has yet to
convene in emergency session to consider the matter. What do member states think
emergency sessions are for? Two proofs of an appalling lack of spine.
The UN, its charter, its Security Council, its General Assembly and its
secretary-generalship are in dire need of overhauling. For a start, I would
suggest that all UN political offices, in particular the secretary-general's, be
permanently moved away from New York to some congenial place, such as Geneva or
Bonn, less subject to undue pressure.

Comments from www.Bangkokpost.com
US protests in the country, thousands of Afghans yesterday took to the streets of eastern Afghanistan chanting slogans and demanding a halt to attacks on Iraq, officials said. More than 10,000 people swarmed through Laghman provincial capital Mehtarlam shouting ?Allahu-Akbar? (God is Great), torching the flags of the United States, Britain and other coalition members. (Getty Images)...
The juxtaposition of American war: wanting peace, supporting war.
Pope John Paul II yesterday denounced the war against Iraq as threatening the ''fate of humanity'' in his first public comments on the US-led attacks. ''When war, as in these days in Iraq, threatens the fate of humanity, it is ever more urgent to proclaim, with a strong and decisive voice, that only peace is the road to follow to construct a more just and united society,'' John Paul said. ''Violence and arms can never resolve the problems of men.'' The pontiff said that peace is ''a gift of God and a humble and constant achievement by men.'' He made his remarks yesterday in an address at the Vatican to members of an Italian religious television channel, Telepace. (AP)
Added 10-year-old Jonah: ``If we spent all the billions of dollars we're spending on the war on other sources of power - solar power, wind power - we wouldn't need any of this oil.''
The most recent report of the United Nations Population Division shows that for 10 key Islamic nations ? Afghanistan, Algeria, Indonesia, Iran, Iraq, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Sudan, Somalia and Yemen ? population is projected to rapidly grow from 577 million in 2000 to 891 million in 2025 and 1.2 billion in 2050.
Moreover, as a major report from the Central Intelligence Agency ? "Long-Term Global Demographic Trends: Reshaping the Geopolitical Landscape" ? warned in July, 2001, before the September terrorist attacks, many developing nations will experience "substantial youth bulges" and, ominously, "the largest proportional youth populations will be located in Pakistan, Afghanistan, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Iraq."
And, the report warned, "the failure to adequately integrate large
youth populations in the Middle East and Sub-Saharan Africa is most
likely to perpetuate the cycle of political instability, ethnic wars,
revolutions and anti-regime activities that already affect many of these
countries. Unemployed youth provide exceptional fodder for radical
movements and terrorist organizations, particularly in the Middle
East."
That's just what many country music fans believe the Dallas-based Dixie Chicks did when they criticized President Bush during a recent London performance. After 13 years of climbing their way to the top of the country music charts, the Chicks took a dive with fans when they told a foreign audience what they thought of Bush and the impending war against Iraq.
"Just so you know," Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines told the London audience, "we're ashamed the president of the United States is from Texas."
And after I heard this, I went out and bought their album. WorldPeace
ARMAGEDDON IS COMING
Armageddon is coming but no one wants to talk about it because Mad George is the Anti-Christ.
Mad George is the one who is making war on the whole world. Can anyone deny that he is prepared to invade Iraq when the whole world is against it?
Can anyone deny that the United States is the holder of the world's biggest arsenal of the weapons of mass destruction?
The whole world is about to be destabilized by Mad George.
And when that war in Iraq begins, are you going to deny that you let it happened?
When your children come home from Iraq in body bags and your grand children are bombed at the local theater and you have no job because the world economy has been disrupted, are you going to
deny that you did nothing while Mad George turned the world upside down?
Are you going to be a proud American when we for the second time use nuclear bombs on Iraq like we did on Japan? Now Japan was a real threat to WorldPeace. But Iraq's only real sin is the fact that it is sitting on top of 112 billion
barrels of oil.
I just want you to know that I am screaming as loud as I can, STOP THE
INSANITY.
I just want you to remember that WorldPeace was against Mad George and Ariel Sharon and their arrogance.
I just want you to know that in the end there will be WorldPeace but I think that you are going to find that the worldpeace that Mad George is promising is going to cost more than you were willing to pay.
No problem. If you let Mad George have his war, then you, not me, will be forever known as
a 21st Century Nazis. You will spend your old age being looked at with contempt by your grandchildren for the hell that you allowed to manifest on earth.
Have no doubt that if this war in Iraq takes place: there will be hell on earth. There will be worldwide depression. There will be worldwide famine. There will be plagues like never before. There will be a loss of freedom in many ways. There will be chaos in the streets. Pain and Suffering and Death will be everywhere.
But in the end, after the great purging of all the war mongers great and small, there will be WorldPeace.
The questions will always be, "Was it worth it?' and "How could America have been so arrogant to think it could make war on the entire world and win?"
When it is all over, those of you who survive, ask yourselves if you are proud to be an American.
We have seen Darth Vader in the flesh and he is George Bush.

Jimmy Carter decries unilateral war on Iraq
Former president says invasion to topple Saddam unjust
NEW YORK, March 9 ?
Former
U.S. president and Nobel Peace Prize winner Jimmy Carter on Sunday condemned
preparations for a unilateral U.S. attack on Iraq, saying it would be an unjust
war ?almost unprecedented in the history of civilized
nations.??
IN AN ARTICLE in The New York Times, Carter said profound changes
in U.S. foreign policy had reversed ?consistent bipartisan commitments that for
more than two centuries have earned our nation greatness.?
? ? ? ?Carter, who
served as president from 1977 to 1981, said that during his term he was
?severely provoked by international crises.?
? ? ? ??I became thoroughly
familiar with the principles of a just war, and it is clear that a substantially
unilateral attack on Iraq does not meet these standards,? he said.
? ? ?
?President Bush is facing widespread international opposition to his threats to
invade Iraq and topple President Saddam Hussein, who Washington accuses of
hiding chemical and biological weapons.
? ? ? ?Bush has said he will not let
the absence of U.N. approval stop him, describing U.S. security as paramount.
Saddam has denied having weapons of mass destruction and several members of the
U.N. Security Council want continued U.N. arms inspections rather than war.
?
? ? ?Carter, who won the Nobel Peace Prize last year, said Iraq did not directly
threaten U.S. security.
? ? ? ??But now ... despite the overwhelming
opposition of most people and governments in the world, the United States seems
determined to carry out military and diplomatic action that is almost
unprecedented in the history of civilized nations,? he wrote.
? ? ? ?Carter
described Bush?s attempts to link Iraq to the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks on America
as unconvincing and said the president had no international authority to
establish a ?Pax Americana in the region, perhaps occupying the ethnically
divided country for as long as a decade.?
75% of UK support war on Iraq if there is a U N resolution
SUPPORT among the British public for UK
involvement in a war on Iraq has begun to pick up again, after months of growing
opposition.
Support for British troops taking part in a war fell from 71
per cent last September to 61 per cent in January, but has now risen to 75 per
cent, with 18 per cent opposed in any circumstances, according to Mori.
But that support is conditional both on United Nations weapons
inspectors finding proof that Iraq is hiding weapons of mass destruction and on
the UN Security Council voting in favour of military action.
In the
absence of those conditions, less than a quarter (24 per cent) would be willing
for Britain to join a US-led attack, against 67 per cent who would be opposed.
The findings indicate Tony Blair has had some success in his efforts to persuade
the public at least of the need for war.
George, "I am going to kill you with my weapons of mass destruction."
Saddam, "But all I have is oil. I do not have any weapons of mass destruction."
George, "Too bad. I told everyone you did. Can you say mushroom cloud. Better grab a fast camel out of the country."
There has been no war more contested than Vietnam. When American warriors came home from that war, they were called baby killers and there was little respect for those who walked the streets in their uniforms. After the war, the VA funds were cut for those who needed help. And today hundreds of thousands of men have never fully recovered from their experiences in Vietnam.
Has anyone considered how our vets are going to be treated when they return from Iraq? Warriors from an unjust war live with a certain stigma for life. Think about all those ex-Nazis living in Germany and all those Japanese who were humiliated after being defeated in World War II.
If America, for the first time in its history, enters Iraq without the support of the United Nations, or enters for the wrong reasons even with the support of the U N, those soldiers who participate are going to be branded the same way that the Germans and the Japanese and the American Vietnam veterans are now.
And as far as a long term occupation of Iraq, what we did in Germany and Japan after WWII was not carried out in the middle of a hostile Muslim population in all the neighboring countries.

Do you really think we are going to be able to preemptively strike Iraq and not suffer casualties in the USA? At the mall, at the movies, at sports events? Do you think that flying planes into buildings is the only terroristic option? Do you think you will ever feel safe again after Warmonger Bush uses nuclear weapons in Iraq? Are you ready to bury your children so you can continue to drive your SUV?
This is the face of nuclear war, famine, pestilence, death, destruction and hell on earth.

Today we give the final salute to the heroes of space exploration. Men and women who dedicate and sometimes give their lives for the betterment of humanity. Far outside the realm of wars these men and women along with their comrades in the International Space Station - "WorldPeace Star" prove that international, racial, religious and gender barriers can be dissipated and we can step off this tiny blue marble in peace and harmony to spread our humanity throughout the universe and to continue to reach beyond our limitations. Today we are reminded that nothing of great value comes without the personal sacrifice of those among us who everyday quietly blaze trails into the unknown in an effort to bring back knowledge and understanding for the benefit of all of humanity.
I cannot help but wonder why this shuttle, Columbia*, the symbol of one of the highest technical achievements of the American people, would just happen to explode over the state of Texas from which George Bush rose to political power and who now prepares to use that same technology to begin a pre-emptive attack against Iraq in violation of everything that America stands for. Only the future will tell if this tragic event today is an omen of a holocaust that will follow an unjustified war. It is also of note that there was an Israeli astronaut on board. God help us.
*Columbia - Columbia is a name sometimes used in referring to the United States. Long before the Revolutionary War in America (1775-1783), many people felt that America should have been named Columbia after the explorer Christopher Columbus. During the war, colonial poets used the name to describe the new nation that was to become the United States.
